Police investigate body found in car at National Assembly

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has launched an investigation following the discovery of a decomposed body inside a vehicle at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.

The Command, in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, ASP Josephine Adeh, ssid the incident was reported on Sunday morning after a distress call alerted police operatives to the scene.

Preliminary investigations by the police disclosed that the deceased was likely a labourer at the Complex.

Part of the statement reads: “On September 7, 2025, at about 09:00 hours, the FCT Police Command received a distress call reporting the discovery of an unidentified male, suspected to be a labourer, found lifeless at a construction site within the National Assembly Complex.

“The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), National Assembly Division, immediately responded to the call and, upon arrival, discovered the deceased inside a red Peugeot 406 motor vehicle with registration number BWR-577 BF.”

According to Adeh, the body was evacuated to Asokoro General Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed it was already in an advanced state of decomposition.

She added that the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, has ordered a discreet investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and directed that efforts be intensified to establish the identity of the deceased.

The Police Command assured that further updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
