BREAKING: INEC officially recognizes David Mark, Aregbesola as ADC leaders

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has formally recognized former Senate President, Senator David Mark, as the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, effectively ending months of internal leadership tussle within the party.

In an update published on its official website on Wednesday, the Commission confirmed the new National Working Committee, NWC, of the party, listing former Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, as the National Secretary.

Other members of the recognized leadership include Dr. Mani Ibrahim Ahmad, who was named National Treasurer; Akibu Dalhatu, as National Financial Secretary; and former Edo State governor, Prof. Oserheimen Aigberaodion Osunbor, who now serves as National Legal Adviser.

The development follows prolonged disputes over the control of ADC’s leadership structure, which had threatened the party’s cohesion ahead of the 2027 general elections. With INEC’s confirmation, the new executive is now the officially recognized leadership of the party.

The recognition of David Mark and his team could reposition the ADC as a formidable opposition force, given the pedigree of its new leaders who bring years of legislative, executive, and legal experience into the party’s top hierarchy.
