Military will keep Nigerians safe – Defence Chief

Laraba MUREY

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has said the Armed Forces of Nigeria will not relent in their duty to protect citizens, ensuring peace across the country.

Musa gave the assurance during a meeting with members of the Northern Bridge Builders Forum, led by Senator Joel Danlami Ikenya, at the Defence Headquarters.

In a statement by the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, on Tuesday in Abuja, CDS expressed appreciation for the visit and thanked the forum for its show of solidarity and encouragement.

He reassured the delegation that the AFN remains resolute and would continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of Nigerians.

Musa also lauded the forum’s diverse membership, describing them as “patriotic Nigerians committed to building bridges of peace and unity.”

Earlier, Ikenya praised the military for restoring peace in troubled areas, saying farmers had returned to their fields because of improved security. He said, “We commend the Armed Forces for their sacrifices. We have seen improvements, especially along the Abuja–Kaduna highway. This has allowed our people to go back to farming and boost food production.”

He also distanced the forum from what he called “uninformed criticisms” of the military. “We do not share the negative comments of some people. We stand with the Armed Forces and encourage you to keep the momentum,” he added.
