The National Working Committee, NWC, of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, has ratified the expulsion of its suspended National Chairman, Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam, alongside eight other members, following findings of financial misconduct and disloyalty.
The decision, which was taken at the NWC meeting on Thursday, in Abuja, came after the adoption of the report of the party’s disciplinary committee, which investigated allegations of mismanagement and breach of party ethics.
Those expelled with Gabam include the suspended National Youth Leader, Uchechukwu Chukwuma; Adamu Abubakar Modibbo; Abubakar Dogara; Nuraddeen Bisalla; Solsuema Osaro; Ambo Ekpeyong; Eluwa Ifeanyi Henry; Humphrey Unwukaeze, and Judith Israel Shuaibu.
In a statement jointly signed by the Acting National Chairman, Dr. Sadiq Umar Abubakar Gombe; Deputy National Chairman, South, Senator Ugochukwu Uba; National Secretary, Dr. Olu Agunloye; National Legal Adviser, Aderemi Abimbola, and seven other national officers, the NWC said the decision followed due process and was aimed at restoring discipline within the party.
The statement recalled that Gabam, alongside the party’s National Auditor, Nze Nnadi Clarkson, and Youth Leader, Chukwuma, had earlier been suspended in July 2025 over allegations of financial impropriety.
The trio were subjected to investigation by a disciplinary panel set up by the NWC.
The committee’s report, according to the statement, also found seven other members guilty of disloyalty and unruly conduct. It detailed how the affected members allegedly broke into the SDP National Secretariat at 17 Nairobi Street, Wuse II, Abuja, on July 28, 2025.
“The National Working Committee considered a report which detailed how some nonconforming and disloyal members, namely, Adamu Abubakar Modibbo, Abubakar Dogara, Nuraddeen Bisalla, Solsuema Osaro, Ambo Ekpeyong, Eluwa Ifeanyi Henry, Humphrey Unwukaeze, and Judith Israel Shuaibu, unlawfully gained entry into the party’s national secretariat in the early hours of Monday, July 28, 2025.
“They were apprehended by security operatives while attempting to cart away sensitive official documents and valuables belonging to the party. The suspects are currently being prosecuted by the Nigerian Police,” the stemnt
Consequently, the NWC resolved to expel Gabam and the affected members from the party and formally relieve them of their respective positions. It also accepted the voluntary resignation of the suspended National Auditor, Mr. Clarkson Nnadi.
The communiqué further disclosed that the committee’s White Paper on administrative safeguards and disciplinary procedures would be implemented to strengthen internal governance and reposition the SDP for stability and growth.
