The Police in the Federal Capital Territory Police has arrested a 20-year-old man, identified as Nura Auwal, for alleged sexual molestation of a 10-year-old boy in Lugbe.
A statement by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said the incident was reported at the Trademore Police Division on October 24, 2025, by one Mr. Sani Yakubu, whose son returned home crying after the alleged assault.
Yakubu reported to the police that his son had gone into a nearby bush to ease himself on October 23 when the suspect allegedly accosted and violated him.
The statement added that, “The suspect was also said to have gave 200 naira and threatened to kill the victim if he disclosed the incident to anyone.”
She explained that the child was immediately taken to the Police Hospital in Garki for medical attention, while operatives from the Trademore Division “swiftly swung into action, trailed, and arrested the suspect within the Lugbe area.”
Preliminary investigation, according to the police, revealed that the suspect had a history of similar acts and was introduced to the practice by an acquaintance in Katsina State.
Adeh added that investigation is ongoing and that the suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion.
Condemning the incident, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, reiterated the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on all forms of sexual and gender-based violence. He further assured that the victim is receiving the necessary medical assistance.
“The Command enjoins parents, guardians, and community leaders to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious acts of abuse to the nearest police formation or through the Command’s emergency lines: 08032003913, 08028940883,” Adeh stated.
