The new Executive Secretary of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria, ARCN, Dr Abubakar Dabban, has officially resumed duty with a call on staff and stakeholders to work together to move the council forward.
Dr Dabban, who spoke during the handing and taking over ceremony on Monday, June 16, 2025, at the ARCN headquarters in Abuja, said his leadership will focus on improving food production and building on the council’s achievements.
“This is a new ARCN and new hope for Nigeria’s food security,” he said, urging staff to do their jobs well and stay away from eye service.
He also warned those who specialise in sycophancy to stay away, adding that he is not in office to witch-hunt or probe anyone.
Dr Dabban said his mission aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and promised to bring new energy into agricultural research for national development.
The outgoing acting Executive Secretary pledged his support to the new boss and promised to help him succeed in delivering the president’s mandate.
Also speaking, Dr Shuaibu Madugu, Director of Planning, Research and Statistics at ARCN, thanked the former acting ES on behalf of the staff and management. He urged Dr Dabban to stand by his words by focusing on dedicated staff and ignoring praise singers.
