OHCSF refutes claims of tenure extension for Aduda

The Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, OHCSF, has firmly dismissed media reports alleging a clandestine plan to unlawfully extend the tenure of Mr. Gabriel Tanimu Aduda, the Permanent Secretary representing the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

Reacting to the online publications, the OHCSF declared that no such proposal is under consideration for Mr. Aduda or any other Permanent Secretary.

It emphasized that all retirement and tenure-related decisions are guided strictly by established Public Service Rules and subject to the approval of the appropriate authorities.

In a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Mrs. Eno Olotu, the OHCSF reaffirmed its commitment to due process and regulatory compliance, ensuring that decisions within the Civil Service remain anchored on integrity and accountability.

Quoting the Public Service Rules (2021), Rule 020909 (b), the office clarified that a Permanent Secretary’s tenure is limited to an initial four years, with the possibility of a single renewal contingent on satisfactory performance—bringing the maximum allowable term to eight years.

The statement quoted the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, as restating her dedication to upholding meritocracy, transparency, and adherence to the rule of law in the management of senior public officers.

She stressed that the Civil Service under her leadership remains committed to fostering trust, accountability, and professionalism.

The statement urged the public to disregard the misleading reports and refrain from circulating unfounded claims capable of eroding public confidence in the system, but to rely on verified information from official government channels to avoid the spread of misinformation.
