Woodhall Capital celebrates Oramah’s role at Afreximbank in boosting intra-African trade

A leading African investment and financial advisory firm, Woodhall Capital, has commended the contributions of former President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the African Export-Import Bank, Prof Benedict Oramah, for his role in advancing intra-African trade and strengthening the continent’s financial architecture.

The commendation was made during a dinner reception organized by the Firm in Oramah’s honour on Wednesday, at its global headquarters, The Oak, on Ikoyi Crescent, Lagos.

A statement by the firm said the gathering brought together Woodhall Capital’s leadership and other distinguished guests to celebrate Oramah’s contributions to African trade, finance and economic development.

Speaking at the event, President of Woodhall Capital Group, Mrs. Mojisola Hunponu-Wusu, highlighted the far-reaching influence of Oramah’s leadership, describing him as a global figure who used his position to create opportunities for institutions and professionals across the continent.

“Professor Oramah represents something rare in global leadership—someone who did not merely hold a position but intentionally used his platform to open doors for others,” she said.

She added that his recognition was particularly meaningful during the period marking International Women’s Day, noting that Oramah has consistently supported the growth of female-led institutions.

According to her, the professional engagement between Woodhall Capital and Afreximbank during Oramah’s tenure was marked by both opportunities and strict institutional standards.

“Our journey with Afreximbank was defined by opportunity as well as rigorous benchmarks. While not every transaction we presented received approval, the message was always consistent: strengthen your institution. That challenge became a foundation upon which we continue to build,” she said.

Woodhall Capital said the dinner reflects its commitment to recognising individuals whose leadership expands Africa’s economic potential and strengthens institutions capable of delivering long-term value.

The evening celebrated not only Oramah’s tenure at Afreximbank but also his enduring legacy as a champion of intra-African trade and institutional development across the continent.

The event served as a formal recognition of a leader widely credited with driving initiatives that expanded trade financing and strengthened economic collaboration across Africa.

Among those present were Chairman of the Woodhall Capital Group Board of Directors, Akin Akinfemiwa; Director, Adejare Rasheed Olaoluwa; and President of Woodhall Capital Group, Mojisola Hunponu-Wusu.

Also in attendance were Chinelo Oramah, Matron of the Afreximbank Spouse Network and visual artist; Kanayo Awani, Executive Vice President of the Intra-African Trade Bank at Afreximbank; and Viavo Hunponu-Wusu, Managing Partner at BlackStone Legal Advisory.
