FCT Fire Service reviews fire router system

By Sarah NEGEDU
The Federal Capital Territory Fire Service has begun a review of its Fire Router service framework, even as authorities advised subscribers to keep their installed devices pending the outcome of the review.
The Director of the FCT Fire Service, Adebayo Amiola, who announced this on Tuesday, said the administrative and technical review would determine the future operational structure of the system and whether it aligns with the service’s objectives, operational standards and the public interest.
The Fire Router is designed to link homes, offices and other buildings to the fire service, allowing fire alerts to be transmitted quickly to emergency responders in the event of an outbreak. The system was introduced through a partnership between the FCT Fire Service and Prime Alert Secure Limited.
Director of the FCT Fire Service, Adebayo Amiola, asked members of the public and existing subscribers to retain their installed fire router devices until the review is concluded.
“Members of the public are requested to exercise patience while service continuity and future structural arrangements are carefully evaluated.
“Subscribers whose service subscriptions are approaching renewal are strongly advised to seek direct clarification through the official communication channels of the FCT Fire Service before committing to long-term renewals.
“The conventional emergency fire reporting and response services of the FCT Fire Service remain fully operational.
“Citizens are urged to continue reporting fire emergencies through existing official channels without hesitation,” he stated.
He asked residents to continue to report fire incidents through the service’s existing emergency channels, stressing that the ongoing review does not affect emergency response operations.
Amiola thanked the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for his support for the service, assuring stakeholders that updates would be provided as the review progresses.
