The Federal Capital Territory Administration said it will complete every capital project started under President Bola Tinubu before the expiration of his tenure.
According to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, 76 of the 107 projects initiated by the administration in the nation’s capital had already been completed, with 10 more scheduled for commissioning before the general elections in January.
The minister, who stated this during a media chat in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, said the FCTA would use the remaining period of the administration to complete all outstanding Tinubu-era projects.
“The President’s administration under Bola Tinubu commissioned 107 capital projects. We have completed 76. Before the January election, we will commission 10, and before the end of his tenure, we would have commissioned all the projects,” Wike said.
The minister also gave an account of projects inherited from previous administrations, saying the FCTA had completed 23 of the 25 projects inherited from former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
According to him, the two remaining Buhari-era projects are ongoing, while six of the eight projects inherited from the administrations of former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua have also been completed.
“We inherited 25 projects from President Buhari and completed 23, while two are currently ongoing.
“We inherited eight projects from the administrations of President Jonathan and President Yar’Adua. We have completed six, while two are ongoing.”
Wike said the FCT Administration was determined to ensure that projects initiated under the Renewed Hope Agenda did not remain unfinished at the end of the Tinubu administration.
“Before this tenure expires, every project started under Bola Tinubu would have been completed.”
He also challenged critics of the administration’s performance in the FCT to compare its infrastructure record with those of previous governments.
“In the history of the FCT, no government has done what we have done in Abuja. I challenge anyone to come out,” Wike stated.
