Rivers rally: Tinubu hails Wike’s development strides lauds Fubara for peace

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had praised the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, as a vital development partner, while commending Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, for de-escalating political hostility in the state.
The President who gave the commendation during the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential campaign rally in Port Harcourt over the weekend, credited Wike’s infrastructural vision with driving national growth.
He urged the electorate to recognize the former governor’s contributions to the current administration’s federal development agenda.
Turning to the political crisis that recently rocked the state, the President directly thanked Governor Fubara for his conduct during recent peace initiatives. He commended the governor’s compliance with elder-led resolutions aimed at restoring stability to Rivers State.
“Nyesom Wike is already a development partner of the Bola Tinubu administration. He is doing a wonderful job, committed, very, very hardworking. A man with vision who combines that with a mission. Help me thank him for his contribution to the infrastructural development of our country.”
To the Governor, Tinubu said, “Fubara, Your Excellency, the host governor of today, I want to thank you specifically for your maturity, understanding, and respect for the wisdom of elders.
“When we intervened, you respected our position, you maintained peace, and you are a committed democrat. Fubara, you will not regret what you have done as long as all of us are alive.”
The President also mounted a defense of his national economic policies, contrasting his fiscal performance against previous administrations. He stated that his team successfully eliminated widespread insolvency, noting that 27 out of 36 states were unable to meet civil service wage obligations when he took office.
Concluding his address, the President made a direct appeal to the younger demographic to mobilize for upcoming elections. He framed voter registration and the possession of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) as the primary tools for long-term democratic stability.
“To the youth of Nigeria, this election is about you. Your future depends on this election.
“It is left for you to use the weapon you have, and that weapon is the PVC. If you have not collected yours, please go ahead and collect it. Please, I beg you.”
