Global aid group, ActionAid, is organising a virtual event to commemorate the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists, November 2, 2021.
In a statement by the communications coordinator, Nihinlola Ayanda, made available to journalists in Abuja, she called on media practitioners to participate.
“ActionAid is calling on all journalists, activists, civil society, media owners, media groups, academia, and regulatory agencies to participate in a two-hour national media convening in commemoration of the 2021 International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists to x-ray how Nigeria is countering threats of violence and crimes against journalists, particularly women, to protect freedom of expression for all.”
The event would hold under the theme: “Actioning Safety and Protection of Women Journalists in Nigeria; Reflections and Recommendations”.
