A Fellow of the United Nations, UN, Professor Echefuna Onyebeadi, has posited that the ideals upon which Nigeria was founded on was since eroding.
He made this known recently at an event organised by United People of Nigeria Initiative in Abuja, where he harped on the need for equality and justice.
He said, “The ideals upon which the founding leaders of Nigeria lived and died for appears to have since been eroded going by the happenings in the country.
“Nigeria has become a grave yard in which her citizens are buried daily on the altar of ineptitude, lack of vision, bad governance, terrorism, nepotism and anachronism.
“It is no longer news that Nigeria has since become the poverty capital of the world! So, why wouldn’t a hungry man become an angry man?
“Therefore, the mission of this forum is a tall order in the midst of a rampaging separatist agitations across the country to which human lives in the country have become so degraded so much so that, the killings of Nigerians today have become mere statistics.”
Also speaking at the event the FCT coordinator of UPNI, Barr. Patrick Echesi, said, “We are determined to fight for the rights of Nigerians, the right of our children being the hope of our future as a country, the rights of the downtrodden and voiceless. We are prepared to build the power of the masses to initiate a true federation based on justice, fair play and equitable distribution of resources.
