The All Progressives Congress chairmanship candidate in the forthcoming Area Council elections in Bwari, Hon. Haruna Shekwolo, is optimistic of his chances in the polls despite the obvious powers wielded by the incumbent chairman.
Speaking with journalists at the Public presentation of a book, Face of a True Emancipator, Shekwolo said his political antecedents and numerous social interventions preceeds him and therefore believes that the people will make the right choice come February 2022.
Fielding questions on his chances in the elections since his community had produced the immediate past chairman, the APC candidate said reelection candidates from same ward is jot strange in Nigeria’s political space.
“I most say that this is not new in our political history. The late President Yara’adua was from Katsina State and the next person after Goodluck Jonathan is President Buhari who is also from Katsina. Even here in Abuja, Jisalo was a two term chairman before he left for House of Representatives and his successor, Hon Jiba who is from the same Garki ward as Jisalo, also became a two term chairman before going to the House of Representatives. So why will ours in Bwari be different?” he asked.
Shekwolo therefore urged Bwari residents to vote in the right candidate who will redirect the socio-economic fortunes of the council.
FCT Minister of State, Dr Ramatu Aliyu, who wrote the forward of the incisive book said the compendium reveals the urgent need to emancipate the people of Bwari Area Council through a purposeful leadership.
Represented at the book launch by her Special Assistant on Area Council, Alhaji Muhammad Saba, the Minister said, “I see the candidate as a young man who through commitment, hard-work, dedication, and perseverance rose through the ladder of politics to become the chairmanship candidate of APC in Bwari Area Council come February 2022. Therefore, the experiences contain in the book will no doubt further enrich our knowledge of a true emancipator and a purposeful leader.”
The book, Face of a True Emancipator, written by Ikenna Uwakwe, highlights the political qualities of Hon. Audu Haruna Shekwolo, one of Nigeria’s true emancipators.
The book reviewer, Prof. M T Usman, described the book as a harvest of information and knowledge.
“It is both a document and a clear and detailed exposition on a young energetic political icon Hon. Shekwolo in Bwari Area Council.
“The book is divided into eighteen chapters, each dealing with a particular theme which offers an insight into the thinking of a leading figure in the struggle for social change. It presents the manifestos, policy thrusts and capacities of Hon. Shekwolo for the office of the Executive Chairman of Bwari Area Council.”
