Perm Sec charges AEPB on Abuja sanitary condition

Staff of the Abuja Environmental Protection Board, AEPB, have been asked to step up their efforts in city management by improving on the sanitary and environmental conditions of the nation’s capital city.

The permanent secretary of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, Mr. Olusade Adesola, who gave the charged at an emergency meeting with the management staff of the board, said there was the need for the AEPB to change their approach in terms of its management of the city’ sanitary conditions.

Adesola, while expressing confidence in the ability of the personnel of the AEPB to keep the territory clean, frowned at the low revenue profile and the increasing debts owed to the Board.

He called on all government agencies, estates, private organizations and individuals enjoying services rendered by the board to pay their bills forthwith to enable it function hitch-free.

The permanent secretary who also expressed the administration’s readiness to support the board to achieve its goals and objectives, warned that it will not tolerate any act of incompetence by any staff.

Adesola further disclosed that already all disagreements revolving around revenue collection between Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, and the FCT Administration have been largely resolved.

Responding on behalf of the management and staff, the outgoing Director of the AEPB, Kaka Ali, pledged the support of the staff in charting a new course for the Board.
