The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development has said it is committed to strengthening poverty intervention programmes under National Social Investment Programme,NSIP, through capacity building of it’s staff.
Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, while speaking at the close of the 5day capacity building organized for over 60 staff of the ministry, themed “Driving Organizational Change for Impactful Results” in Abuja
said the training would empower the managers in the ministry with the skills needed to deliver improved performance towards initiations and actualization of performance driven change, manage emerging challenges
Represented by the National Coordinator of NSIP, Dr Umar Bindir, Farouq declared that NSIP “This training is an attempt to energize you to unleash the experiences of the past as we used to implement the NSIP from 2016 to now.So that knowledge of what we have learned then put together with this training, we should be able to do better in executing President Muhammadu Buhari ‘s mandate of lifting 100 million citizens out of poverty through a number of social interventions, which include the NPOWER; National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme,NHGSFP,; Conditional Cash Transfer, CCT and the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme,
GEEP.
She said “this training program’s aim is to target lifting Nigerians and they should work. Also, why you have to ensure that you strengthen NPOWER so that the program doesn’t break.You have to strengthen the school feeding, strengthen the GEEP ensure that the conditional cash transfer is working. this training is to enhance your capacity.
According to her “this training is to enhance your capacity. So how to do this is you now have learned that quick delivery is an index of efficiency you cannot waste time. Also ensure that you embed this training into your quality of service to ensure that your documentation is good And this program is also telling you about the manner the managing people. You’re managing resources. This training has demonstrated to you that you need to deploy teamwork.”
Speaking on behalf of the participants, Special Adviser to the Minister on Strategic Communication, Halima Oyelade, expressed appreciation to the minister for the opportunity
