An officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, attached to the FCTA Task Force on City Sanitation was assaulted, bitten and swallowed by a woman who owns one of the structures for demolition.
The attack happened at the Katampe Extension, Abuja, during an exercise to remove shanties and other illegal structures in the area.
The officer who bled profusely was rushed to the hospital while the aggressor was arrested and taken to the Gwarinpa Police Station.
Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Monitoring, Inspection and Enforcement, Comrade Ikharo Attah, who spoke on the assault, said, “Attack on the task force is normal in our operation. The security lady that was bitten by the other woman was very civil. We will leave the police to do their job.”
Attah reiterated the commitment of the FCT minister, Malam Muhammad Bello, to rid the nation’s capital of shanties and all other illegal structures on road corridors, especially in highbrow areas and under high tension cables.
