The Forum of All Progressives Congress, APC, State Chairmen has announced a solidarity rally to counter the planned protest scheduled for August 1 to 10, 2024.
The rally, which will take place across all political wards, Local Government Areas, and state capitals, including Abuja, is aimed at promoting the laudable projects and programs of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking on behalf of the Forum, the APC Cross River State Chairman and Secretary of the Forum, Alphonsus Ogar said the peaceful rally will begin today, July 29 and end August 11, 2024.
“We call on patriots to join forces with security agencies to report any criminal element who attempt to carry out any act of violence,” said the APC State Chairmen in a statement. “We urge security agencies to please stand by their oath to protect life and properties. We humbly urge them to be proactive rather than being reactionary.”
The chairmen warned that the planned protest, being contemplated by a faceless group, will annihilate the democratic ideals which all political parties subscribed to. “Violent protest being contemplated by the faceless group as contained in their charter of demand will annihilate the democratic ideals which all political parties subscribed to. This is unacceptable and we must resist it in the most civil manner,” they said.
The solidarity rally, which will commence on July 29 and end on August 11, is expected to sensitize innocent and peace-loving people of the country about the plans of failed politicians who want to get power through every illegitimate means by inciting ignorant Nigerians to embark on violent protest.
“We shall embark on peaceful rally to re-echo the laudable projects and the programs of President Tinubu with greater vigor to protect and defend our democracy from any attack by hoodlums or some criminal elements who want to carry out violent protest,” the chairmen said.
They also commended President Tinubu’s policies, saying, “Despite the challenges of the moment, we are confident and very optimistic that the president’s policy in the areas of the Students loan schemes, the Consumer credit scheme, the minimum wage award by over 133%, the CNG Vehicle conversion policy, the renewed vigor in the war against corruption, insurgency, banditry, crude oil theft, the massive infrastructural projects, the renewed Hope housing project across the country, massive distribution of food and financial supports to all the States across political parties lines as palliatives, the creation of the Ministry of Livestock Development to address the persistent farmers and herders clashes, the review of the Privatization policy of previous administrations particularly the reform in the Energy sector, the recent supreme court judgement on Local Government Autonomy, the massive investment in Agriculture and its value chain to guarantee food security, the removal of import taxes on pharmaceuticals and food products, the recent surge in daily crude oil production from 800,000 barrels per day to over 1,600,000 barrels per day are eloquent testimonial to the effectuation of Mr. President’s policy and these are wonderful steps in the right direction that will soon reflect positive prospect in the Nigerian economy.”
The APC State Chairmen reaffirmed their commitment to democracy and urged all Nigerians to defend it. “We call on all party men and concerned Nigerians in other political parties to stand firm in protection of democracy. It should be noted that violent protest being contemplated by the faceless group will annihilate the democratic ideals which all political parties subscribed to,” they said.
They expressed confidence that with God on their side, the country shall overcome the challenges facing it. “With God on our side, our country shall overcome,” they said.
