Tinubu to deploy technology for homeland security- Ganduje

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, has disclosed that President Bola Tinubu plans to deploy technology to tackle the security situation in Nigeria.

Ganduje, who stated this while receiving a delegation of North Central APC Elders Forum on Friday, in Abuja, said this focus on technology aims to address the challenges posed by forests that have transformed into havens for criminal activities like banditry.

According to him, Tinubu is actively working to strengthen crucial institutions such as the military, Air Force, Navy, DSS, Civil Defense, and NIA.

He noted that the president is focused on restructuring these agencies to better address the prevailing security concerns, particularly in regions affected by criminal activities.

Ganduje applauded Tinubu’s leadership, citing his exemplary governance style as a model for unity and diversity.

He noted that the president’s approach exemplified during his time as the governor of Lagos, streses the importance of inclusive leadership in fostering national cohesion.

On the issue of regional representation, Ganduje expressed gratitude for the president for his decision to appoint the Secretary to the Government of the Federation from the North Central zone.

He assured that efforts would be made to ensure fair distribution of opportunities and support among various support groups within the region.

Ganduje said, “Pertaining to security, the President has agreed to employ technology in the management of security in Nigeria, in particular our forests that have become cities for bandits.

“He is ready in order to make the institutions strong, the army, Air Force, the Navy, the DSS, Civil Defense, even the NIA.He is rejigging on disconstitutions to ensure that we conquer the insecurity situation in the country.

“He has led by example and created institutions that led to the development of Lagos state and so far have taken the right step to make Nigeria a much greater country.

“The North Central geopolitical zone is a good example of unity and diversity, a diversity in geo political zone and diverse diversity strides in Nigeria, so we appreciate that

“You look at the composition of his cabinet when he was the governor of Lagos, so the issue of tribalism, is put aside, the issue of ethnicity, the issue of religion is also put aside as he is muslim and his wife is a pastor, so he is living by example, as far as managing diversity is concerned.”

Earlier, the eader of the delegation, Gen. Lawrence Anebi Onoja, expressed concern about the prolonged insecurity in the North Central zone during the fourth republic.

Onoja highlighted terrorist and banditry attacks, which have negatively impacted social cohesion, food security, and education.

He called for effective strategies to address these security challenges.

“The North Central zone has witnessed the most prolonged state of insecurity experience in the fourth republic. This has been mainly in the form of terrorist and banditry attacks, with adverse consequences on the social cohesion of the people, Food Security and Education among others. We request that you use your good offices to help/encourage us to develop new strategies that will address the security challenges we face, once and for all,” he said.
