Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, Christopher Maikalangu, has expressed gratitude and satisfaction with the Appeal Court’s recent judgment affirming his victory in the 2022, Federal Capital Territory, Area Councils election.
Justice Suleiman Belgore, leading a 3-member panel, delivered a unanimous verdict on Saturday, October 1, 2022, that not only described the lower tribunal’s judgment as “perverse” but also “evil.” The decision underscored the importance of relying on the original certified true copy of the result sheet, form EC8A, tendered as evidence by Christopher Maikalangu of PDP, rather than an alternative sheet presented by Murtala Karshi’s APC.
Hon. Maikalangu praised Justice Suleiman Belgore as a “hero of justice for people’s mandate” and celebrated the court’s resolute commitment to upholding the integrity of the electoral process. This landmark decision reaffirms the principles of fairness and justice in Nigeria’s democratic system.
The Chairman took the opportunity on this special occasion to commend the exemplary leadership of His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the FCT Minister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, stating that their character and personality have instilled hope for a brighter future and have played a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s ethos during its transition.
As Nigeria marks its 63rd Anniversary, Hon. Maikalangu urged all residents to use this moment to reflect on the nation’s progress, honor its heroes, and demonstrate unity and togetherness towards one another.
He emphasized that AMAC, as the host of the nation’s capital, bears the responsibility of exemplifying Nigeria’s unity and collective aspirations, and it is the duty of every resident to uphold these ideals.
This celebration serves as a reminder of the values that have kept Nigeria united and undivided for 63 years, and Chairman Maikalangu called on the emerging AMAC generation to embrace and preserve the dream of a united Abuja, working towards the preservation of the nation’s collective heritage.
In closing, he wished all residents a joyous 63rd Anniversary Celebration and encouraged everyone to march towards a brighter future, one characterized by unity, hope, and progress.
