Erstwhile Deputy General Secretary of International Trade Union Confederation, ITUC-Africa, Comrade Joel Akhator Odigie, has emerged the new General Secretary of the confederation.
Odigie was elected unopposed at the ongoing 5th Ordinary Congress of the ITUC Africa holding in Nairobi, Kenya.
He was elected unopposed because he was the only candidate properly nominated, and in appreciation of his years of hard work as the Deputy General Secretary of ITUC Africa, and his capacity to deliver and drive the cause of workers around the world.
As deputy general secretary, he worked very closely with the outgoing General Secretary, Comrade Kwasi Adu Amankwah with whom they achieved several accolades for the global trade Union platform.
The 5th Ordinary Congress of the ITUC-Africa, is holding in Nairobi,Kenya, where critical resolutions about the future of work and workers in the continent are being taken with a quest to ensure that workers welfare are giving priority.
