President of Junior Chamber International, JCI, Aso, Yetunde Adebisi, has unveiled the organization’s strategic plans for membership empowerment and societal transformation in 2024.
.The initiative is set to facilitate the induction of approximately 24 new members into the organization, enhancing the group’s ability to make a more significant impact on society.
Adebisi, disclosed this in Abuja during the organization’s “January General Assembly and Business Meeting themed: Leading With Excellence.
The JCI President also underscored the organization’s commitment to prioritizing its members’ needs as she explained thatthe year began with a comprehensive membership survey on January 1st, reflecting JCI’s dedication to understanding and addressing the specific desires of its diverse membership base.
She said “When COVID-19 happened, we realized how many things actually changed in our society. We understood the importance of focusing on the empowerment of our own members. Over the past three years, our national and international bodies, Junior Chamber International, have been dedicated to meeting the needs of our members.

“Our primary focus is on our members, ensuring their voices are heard. At the beginning of this year, on January 1st, we sent out a membership survey to gather feedback on what our members want from us. It brings me joy to see that many members filled out the survey and shared their desires. It is important for us to know their specific needs and wants, so we can effectively serve and support them.
“Moreover, our local organization has been working on upskilling our members since last year. We have created a platform for various trainings to help our members enhance their skills. In 2024, the National President has made it mandatory for us to prioritize membership empowerment. This means that we are committed to providing more opportunities for our members to grow and develop.
“Moving on to partnerships, we have realized that we cannot achieve anything without our partners. Therefore, we invite members of the public and potential partners who may not be familiar with Junior Chamber International to join us in creating positive change in society. We have numerous projects that aim to make a difference, and we believe that individuals and companies can come together to support these initiatives.
“One particular project that I highly recommend getting involved in is “Educate a Child.” This project, which focuses on providing education to underprivileged children, has been running for 10 years. It has already made a significant impact on the lives of three individuals. We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone and hope to have more partners on board to expand our reach and help our society further.
“Another important project we have undertaken is “Save a Soul.” Throughout the years, we have worked on different aspects of society, starting with maternal mortality for three to four years and then shifting our focus to hepatitis B. However, last year, we decided to address the pressing issue of mental health. Mental health is often not taken seriously, and as an organization, we see the need to advocate for its recognition and support. This year, we will embark on an awareness campaign to ensure that mental health is given the attention it deserves,” she said.
“And also at the end of the year we hope to have 24 members inducted into these organization.”
Also speaking, Chairman Senate Committee, Junior Chamber international, Senator Rotimi Adewale, said “The best place you can discover your talents. The best place you can make your dream come to reality. The best place you can fulfill destiny is when you join an organization that gives you a leverage that gives you a platform to identify your talent, give you a platform to execute it. Give you a talent or an opportunity for you to learn by doing it and that is what JCI stands for.Â
“JCI is a leadership organization that builds leaders within local organization within communities and it becomes a chain effect, a chain effect that moves like a speed of the year. It is a day to say yes we are ready. We are ready to carry out more impact. We’re ready to build more leaders. We’re ready to give mentorship.”
On his part, Executive Vice President ,North West Nigeria, Oladipo Lateef, noted that JCI engages in diverse projects and programs, fostering unity between the privileged and less privileged. Their initiatives include luxury relaxation events alongside training sessions like “Training the Power,” leadership, and self-development programs. Participation is open at the national level, with specific guidelines for each training, some exclusively for members and others welcoming the public.Â
The organization has longstanding projects benefitting less privileged homes in Abuja, leaving a positive impact over the past two decades, evident in measurable indices.
