The International Accreditation Service, IAS, has granted accreditation to the Management Systems Certification, MSC, department of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria, SON, for four globally-recognised management system standards.
Son, in a statement announcing the accreditation, said the four areas accredited include: Quality Management System, QMS, Occupational Health and Safety Management System, OHSMS, Environmental Management System, EMS, and Food Safety Management System, FSMS, ISO.
It noted that the achievement follows a rigorous assessment process conducted by IAS, verifying that SON’s MSC department’s operations and audits comprehensively met the stringent requirements of these international standards.
“The accreditation signifies the department’s unwavering commitment to: Delivering exceptional quality in all its services, Upholding the highest standards in occupational health and safety, minimizing environmental impact through responsible practices, ensuring food safety and quality across the supply chain, Adhering to industry-leading benchmarks in the aerospace, defense, and transportation sectors.”
Speaking on the achievement, Acting Director of SON’s MSC department, Engr Obiageli Egbuciem, described the accreditation as a badge of honour for the SON MSC department and a global recognition to SON.
Egbuciem further stated that “this accreditation not only recognizes the efforts of the SON MSC department but also underscores the proficiency and expertise of SON auditors, whose meticulous evaluations played a significant role in achieving this milestone. Their dedication to upholding industry standards and conducting thorough audits has been instrumental in ensuring the department’s adherence to best practices.
“It’s a direct reflection of our team’s relentless pursuit of excellence and unwavering commitment to international best practices. We are incredibly proud of this achievement, and it serves as a catalyst for further advancements in our journey towards continuous improvement.”
According to her, moving forward, the SON MSC department remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding these internationally recognized standards and is determined to ensure continual improvement in service delivery by enhancing its competences and professionalism towards ensuring customer satisfaction.
