Zamfara market explosion: NEMA deployed rescue team

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has swiftly responded to the explosion incident that occurred at a popular market in Talata Mafara, Zamfara State, on Tuesday.

Following incident, NEMA’s Director General Mrs. Zubaida Umar activated it’s Sokoto Operations Office that deployed a rescue team that responded the situation.

Preliminary reports indicate that the explosion resulted in the immediate loss of three lives and injured around 50 individuals. The explosion triggered a subsequent fire that destroyed numerous shops and market stalls. Among the injured, 46 people have been admitted to Usman Dan Fodio University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto where they are receiving treatment in various departments, including orthopedics, surgery, the ICU burn unit, and ENT.

NEMA is collaborating with the Zamfara State Emergency Management Agency and other relevant authorities to provide essential assistance to those affected.
