The First Lady of Kogi State, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo, has called for more support for widows and the elderly, stressing that they should not be neglected.
Speaking at an empowerment programme in Lokoja, she distributed rice, clothing, and cash gifts to 500 widows from the 21 local government areas of the state.
“Widows and the elderly are valuable members of our society. Their economic stability is important for their survival and the growth of our nation,” she said.
Mrs. Ododo urged political leaders and well-meaning individuals to assist widows, stating that the government alone cannot meet all their needs.
“We all have a role to play in empowering widows through job opportunities and business support. With the right help, they can become self-reliant and contribute to society,” she added.
She reaffirmed her commitment to supporting widows and vulnerable groups, promising continued efforts to ease their burdens and create better opportunities for them.
