FCTA gets pioneer head of service, as civil service commission kicks off

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Atang Udo Samuel as the Head of Civil Service in the Federal Capital Territory Administration.

The appointment was announced Tuesday evening, following an earlier proposal sent by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to the president.

Atang, who is currently the most senior director in the FCTA, was appointed alongside 10 other top management staff of the administration expected to serve as Permanent Secretaries in the FCT Civil Service.

A statement from the Director of Press in the Minister’s Office, Anthony Ogunleye, explained that the appointment is hoped ti strengthen the bureaucratic structure of the FCT Administration.

Some of the newly appointed permanent secretaries include Dr. Adam Babagana (North East), Wanki Ibrahim (North East), Asmau Mukhtar (North West), Wadata Bodinga (North West), and Olusa Olusegun (South West).

Others are Adetoyi Rabiu Kolawole (South West), Grace Adayilo (North Central), Olubunmi Olowookere (North Central), Ibe Prospect Chukwuemeka (South East), and Okonkwo Nonubari (South South).

Similarly, the president also approved the appointment of Engr. Emeka Ezeh, as the Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission.

Also appointed as Commissioners in the Commission are Ahmed Mohammed (North West), Anthony Okeah (South-South), Mohammed Ibrahim (North East), Miskoom Alexander Naantuam (North Central), Jide Jimoh (South West) and Martin Azubike (South East).

The President also approved the appointment of Coordinators to fill existing vacancies in 3 agencies of the FCTA. They include, Abdulkadir Zulkarfi as Coordinator, Satellite Town Development Department; Felix Obuah as Coordinator, Abuja Metropolitan Management Council and Oladiran Akindele as Coordinator, Abuja Infrastructure Investment Council, AIIC.

The appointments is expected to take immediate effect, while the appointees would be sworn in on Monday 18th March, 2024.
