A pregnant woman, alongside four other persons were kidnapped from Garam, on Saturday morning, when armed men invaded the community in Niger state.
Recall that Garam which shares boundary with Kuduru community in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, had been in the news between December 2023 and February 2024 when the community was severally attacked by bandits forcefully abducting people for ransom.
The attack later spilled into Bwari Area Council, where many victims were also kidnapped including the late Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar and 13 years old Folashade Ariyo who were both killed while in custody of the kidnappers
Relative peace returned to the area following the intensified action by the police in FCT, however the respite was interrupted on Saturday morning when bandits attacked Garam, kidnapping a heavily pregnant woman and four other persons.
Similar attack was also carried out in Guto area of Bwari, last week Friday, when two young girls were kidnapped from their homes. The victims were later reunited with their families after the police intercepted their abductors around the Gauraka area in Niger state.
A resident of Garam community told our correspondent that the latest attack started around 3:00am on Saturday, when bandits arrived the community and went straight to the houses of the victims to kidnap them.
He alleged that the bandits did not shoot a single shot, so as not to alert the security men in the area.
The source said, “We learnt that they came 3:00a.m. They kidnapped five people including a pregnant woman alongside her child and husband. They also kidnapped a man that had just moved into the compound and another child”.
“The forced their way into the building by forcing the door open. They came silently without shooting any gun like they used to do.”
