IYD: NGO calls for united front in nurturing youth potential

In commemorating this year’s International Youth Day, stakeholders are calling for a united front in identifying and nurturing the potential of youths, to enable them drive sustainable development initiatives.

A Non Governmental Organisation, Helpline Social Support Initiative, in a statement pointed that the youth of today are not just the leaders of tomorrow, but are also change-makers of today.

The statement signed by the Communication Officer, of the NGO, Cecilia Kadir, noted that this year’s theme: “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development,” highlights the pivotal role that technology and digital platforms play in empowering youth to pilot strategic developmental policies and programmes in the society.

According to the statement titled: International Youth Day 2024: Celebrating Youth Empowerment and Innovation, the group reaffirmed its commitment to supporting and amplifying the voices of young people in communities.

“At Helpline Social Support Initiative, we recognize the creativity, resilience, and innovative spirit that young people bring to the forefront of social progress.

“They are not just the leaders of tomorrow; they are the change-makers of today, driving progress and inspiring us all to build a brighter future together.

“Through their dedication to social causes, advocacy for equality and justice, and commitment to environmental sustainability, young individuals are shaping a more inclusive and sustainable world for all.

“We commend their efforts in leveraging digital tools and pathways to address pressing issues, foster dialogue, and drive meaningful impact. Together, we can create a more just, equitable, and sustainable society for generations to come,” statement read in part.

Furthermore tne NGO disclosed that as part of activities to the 2024 IYD, it is hosting, a webinar Titled: “Empowering Youth to Drive Sustainable Change through Digital Innovation”, on August 14th, 2024.

“This webinar will explore innovative digital strategies that can support sustainable development and empower the next generation of leaders. 

“Featuring an engaging panel discussion with experts from the fields of technology and creative design, this event promises to be both informative and inspiring”, the statement added.
