Babayemi Olaniyan donates solar borehole to Kwali Community

A well-known Nigerian lawyer and lead partner at Lehi Attorneys, Babayemi Olaniyan, has donated a solar-powered borehole system to the new Shapekete community in Kwali Area Council, Abuja.

The borehole, funded by Olaniyan’s Lehi Social Impact Foundation, addresses the community’s long-standing struggle with access to clean water. Prior to the donation, residents relied on shallow wells and streams for water, posing serious health risks.

This donation follows Olaniyan’s previous community development efforts, including the construction of a school building in Akwaita, Nasarawa State, aimed at improving access to education.

The solar-powered borehole, completed in three weeks, includes a 2,000-liter tank, ensuring a consistent water supply for the Shapekete community.

Olaniyan said,“It has been an interesting journey from start to completion of the borehole.

He explained, “Clean water is an essential need for every human, as the benefits are immense. The lack of clean water in this community is an abnormality that has finally come to an end. I hope that this clean water will improve the life expectancy of the people and provide overall general well-being.”

He added,“I thank God Almighty for the opportunity to construct the solar-powered borehole for this community.”

Olaniyan, known for his philanthropy, continues to impact the lives of Nigerians, with this borehole being the latest in his efforts to improve living conditions in underserved communities.

Expressing appreciation for Babayemi Olaniyan’s gesture, the community leader and secretary of Shapekete Dauda Yello, said, “We were initially surprised when we saw the borehole being installed, as it was a project of a scale we hadn’t seen before. We thought it must be a government initiative.”

He added, “This borehole is a game-changer for our community. It will improve our health and quality of life.”
