NNPC debunks shutdown claims, confirms Port Harcourt Refinery fully operational

By Godfrey AKON

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPC Ltd, has dismissed recent media reports alleging that the Old Port Harcourt Refinery has been shut down.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the company, Olufemi Soneye, confirmed that the refinery remains fully operational.

According to the statement, the refinery, which was re-streamed two months ago, was recently inspected by former Group Managing Directors of NNPC, who verified its operational status, noting that preparations for ongoing loading operations are currently underway.

NNPC Ltd urged the public to disregard the false reports, attributing them to individuals seeking to create artificial fuel scarcity and exploit Nigerians.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a steady supply of petroleum products across the country.
