Kwali-Ebbo road is a promise kept – Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has described the newly constructed Yangoji-Sukuku-Ebbo road in Kwali Area Council, as a promise kept.

Wike who stated this at the official commissioning of the 11km road, reaffirmed the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to infrastructural development and community upliftment, citing the fulfillment of key promises made to the people of Kwali Area Council.

The minister recalled a 2024 stakeholders’ meeting in Kwali, where residents listed areas of needs, including the now completed Yangoji-Sukuku-Ebbo.

“You requested for the construction of this road during the stakeholders meeting and here we are commission it today. This is promise made and promise kept. You are the first community where we are doing a road and installing streetlights,” Wike stated.

The minister who also assured the people of more projects including an ongoing police station, urged them to be patient with the present administration as it prioritizes community development.

“The government of Bola Tinubu is committed to the development of our people. All we urge you to do is to be patient. If you are patient, at the end of the day, we will all benefit from this administration,” he said.

He also used the opportunity to charge corporate bodies in the FCT to emulate companies using their corporate social responsibilities to better the life of host communities.

Wike who expressed satisfaction over the quality of work done on the project, appreciated Gilmor Construction Company, for also renovating the Local Education Authority, LEA, primary school in Sukuku as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility.

“I urge other companies to emulate Gilmore by contributing to the development of the community,” Wike added.

Earlier, the FCT Minister of State, Mariya Mahmoud, expressed confidence that the road will enhance accessibility, foster economic growth, and strengthen the social fabric of the community.

According to her, “This 11km, Yangoji – Ebo Road in Kwali Area Council may seem like a modest undertaking, but its impact will be far-reaching. It will enhance connectivity, reduce the challenges of insecurity, and open up opportunities for trade and commerce. It will also improve access to education and healthcare, empowering our rural population to lead healthier and more prosperous lives.”

She further stressed that, ” that investing in rural infrastructure is not just a matter of economic development; it is a fundamental step towards building inclusive, resilient, and sustainable communities. By prioritizing the needs of rural areas and ensuring equitable access to road infrastructure, we can unlock their full potential and pave the way for a brighter future for all.”
