The Indigenous People of Biafra has dismissed claims of internal division, insisting that only its detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu, has the authority to issue directives to the movement
In a statement issued by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, the group said its global family had been alerted to the activities of individuals it described as “misguided elements hiding under DOS” and allegedly attempting to create confusion and sow discord within its ranks.
IPOB stated categorically that the movement remained the brainchild and unshakeable mandate of Kanu, stressing that no internal manoeuvring or external negotiation could alter its leadership structure
The group warned that IPOB was not a tradable commodity and could not be hijacked through what it described as backdoor dealings or opportunism disguised as advocacy.
It also criticised alleged engagements between some individuals and the Anambra State Government, describing such moves as null and void.
According to IPOB, the reported engagement was aimed at undermining its official position on a sit-at-home action, particularly its directive on a Monday solidarity sit-at-home with traders at the Onitsha Main Market.
The organisation described the alleged action as a betrayal of its cause, insisting that those involved did not represent the will or interest of the movement.
Reaffirming its position, IPOB declared its total loyalty to Kanu, adding that all directives and commands concerning its struggle must come solely from him.
The group urged members of the public and its supporters to ignore what it termed divisive elements and remain steadfast.
