APC to El-Rufai: ‘Get a Grip, Quit Sulking’

Laraba MUREY

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has advised former Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, to stop being angry and get control of himself.

In a statement released by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the party accused El-Rufai of being driven by raw self-interest and a desire for personal revenge.

The APC was responding to El-Rufai’s recent comments about the party during his interview on BBC . El-Rufai had said that the APC was no longer following its original values.

“El-Rufai’s claim that the APC has deviated from its founding values is a smokescreen to weaponize his personal grievance,” the statement read. “His allegation of a drift from our Party’s founding values exists only in his foggy imagination.”

The APC also accused El-Rufai of attempting to undermine the progress made by the President Bola Tinubu administration, citing the removal of fuel subsidy, unification of exchange rates, and increased foreign direct investment as examples of the government’s successes.

“President Tinubu has demonstrated an ironclad commitment to good governance and launched unprecedented policy reforms to address the country’s generational challenges,” the statement said. “The removal of fuel subsidy now saves Nigeria an estimated ₦4 trillion annually.”

The party also highlighted the growth in foreign exchange inflow, increase in foreign reserves, and boost in oil export as a result of the President’s economic diplomacy.

“Under President Tinubu’s steady leadership, state and local governments now receive vastly higher allocations from the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC), enabling them to extend development to their people,” the statement added.

The APC urged El-Rufai to quit sulking and get a grip, rather than trying to destroy the party that made him.

“El-Rufai is free to choose his political affiliation as he has done. He should quit sulking, get a grip, and salvage some respectability,” the statement concluded.

“Rather than engaging in scurrilous propaganda and deliberate misinformation, El-Rufai should offer constructive criticism or alternative policies as expected of serious-minded political opposition.”
