FCT police recovers body of woman crushed by train

An unidentified woman has reportedly been crushed to death following a train accident along the Gwagwa-Idu railway line in the Federal Capital Territory.

Confirming the incident on Tuesday, the FCT Police Command said it has since launched an investigation into the fatal train accident.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, in a statement explained that the police received a distress call around 11am on March 24, 2025. She said officers moved to the scene behind Zeberced Company, Idu, where they discovered the mangled body of a woman believed to have been struck by a moving train.

According to the statement, “The FCT Police Command is investigating a fatal train accident that claimed the life of an unidentified woman along the Gwagwa-Idu railway line.

“On March 24, 2025, at about 11am, FCT Police responded to a distress call reporting an unconscious female on the railway tracks behind Zeberced Company, Idu. Upon arrival, officers found a lifeless and disfigured female body, believed to have been struck by a train.

“The remains were evacuated to Kubwa General Hospital, where her death was confirmed. Efforts are ongoing to identify her and locate her relatives.”
