Manchester United fans displayed large banners in protest inside Old Trafford against Sir Jim Ratcliffe over forced relocation.
The unrest follows United’s announcement earlier in the week that several general admission sections of the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand would be reclassified as premium hospitality areas.
As a result, dozens of supporters – many of whom have held their seats for decades – are now being told they will need to relocate.
What has infuriated fans most is the abruptness and lack of communication. Season-ticket holders in the affected section only became aware of the change after receiving a brief message from the club on Monday.
The decision has sparked outrage, especially among the community of loyal fans in that area, who consider the move a betrayal. Many have voiced their concerns not just in private forums but in full public view, staging their protest directly in front of the club’s new CEO, Omar Berrada, and technical director Jason Wilcox.
The most critical banners singled out Ratcliffe, the man who is in charge.
One banner read: “Decades of love sold out,” while another declared: “Tourists over fans.” A third stated: “Sir Jim, what has the club we love turned into? You know the price of everything and the value of nothing.”
