By Sarah NEGEDU

The Federal Capital Territory Administration, has ordered the immediate closure of Myra Event Centre in Guzape over persistent noise pollution and related environmental violations.

Coordinator of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, AMMC, Felix Obuah, issued the directive on Thursday, citing the centre’s continued disturbance of the surrounding community, particularly during night time events.

The facility, located at Plot 135, Mustapha Bello Street, was found to be in breach of environmental regulations.

Obuah, in a statement issued on Thursday, said the closure was part of a broader enforcement campaign targeting noise pollution and other infractions that undermine the quality of life in the Federal Capital Territory.

He warned that any event facility found violating environmental laws, especially those related to noise control, would face similar sanctions.

He advised event centers against noise pollution, stressing the need to operate within the provisions of environmental laws guiding their operations.

According to him, any event center that indulges in noise pollution will be closed down with immediate effect.

Obuah also called on residents to actively report cases of environmental violations through the AMMC’s official channels, emphasizing the importance of public participation in safeguarding the city’s environment.
