My CBT ordeal in IBBU, what authorities should do, says student

An undergraduate student of the Ibrahim Badamasi Banbangida University, Lapai, Niger State has recounted her ordeal when she sat for her last semester’s Computer Based Test, CBT.

Amina Miriam Nmadu in an interview with our correspondent explained in pain about what she went through before entering into the examination hall.

According to her, the queue for accreditation into the exam hall was poorly managed as students waited for several hours in queue under the scorching sun.

Nmadu decried the unruly nature of her fellow students which further complicated the poor arrangement by the school authorities.

“I feel mentally drained anytime I am reminded of how poorly the CBT exams for last semester was conducted. You can imagine a situation we were in queue for seceral hours and you are afraid of moving of line to get even water because returning the queue could trigger quarrel and insults from your fellow students,” she recounted.

Also, the undergraduate of Mass Communication bemoaned the attitude of the school security who find such situation convenient to harass and touch students in unsolicited manner even against the school rules.

“What the ordeal has shown is the mass failure of students. I heard that over 60 percent of the students failed the exam – GST 202. The exhaustion and poor network issues contributed to this.

“It is important that the university management comes up with better exams strategy as well as ensure that there is improved internet connection, while reading the riot act to the security guards on campus. I can’t be having unwarranted hands all around me in the name of crowd control. It is unacceptable,” she said.
