The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, has distanced himself from any ongoing investment scheme in the country.
Edun in a statement on Friday described the video promoting the investment scheme on social media, especially Facebook, as “malicious and fraudulent” generated through AI.
The statement signed by Mohammed Manga, Director, Information and Public Relations, reads: “The Office of the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun is aware of a malicious and fraudulent post circulating on social media, which was generated using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.
“This content is entirely false. It fraudulently impersonates Mr. Edun and promotes a deceptive investment scheme with which the Minister has absolutely no affiliation.
“We strongly advise the public to refrain from engaging with or sharing this content. This is a calculated attempt to deceive and defraud unsuspecting individuals by exploiting the credibility of Mr. Edun and the office he holds.”
