The National Emergency Management Agency said on Tuesday that four passengers were injured when a train on the Abuja–Kaduna rail line derailed near the Idda sub-station.
NEMA, in a statement, said its Director General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, led the rescue operation which had the support of the Army, Police, Immigration, Civil Defence and other security agencies.
The accident occurred shortly after 11 a.m. The injured passengers received first aid before being taken to hospital. No deaths were recorded.
The Ministry of Transportation, whose acting Permanent Secretary was at the scene, has begun investigations into the cause of the derailment.
