The Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, Legislative Council has impeached its Speaker, Hon. Matthew Yare.
Hon. Jankaro Ibrahim, councillor representing Kabusa Ward, has been elected as the new Speaker.
The All Progressives Congress, APC, which commands the majority in the Council, drove the leadership change, displacing the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Council insiders disclosed that the impeachment motion secured wide support from APC councillors, paving the way for Ibrahim’s emergence.
