An aide to Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has urged women in Okehi ward to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards,
PVCs.
Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Women Affairs, Janet Samuel, made the call during a gathering of women in Okehi Ward 1, where she emphasised that women must register in order to have a voice in elections.
She explained that PVC registration was not just about politics but also about ensuring women could influence decisions that affect their lives and families. “Women should not be left behind. We must all go out, register and collect our PVCs so that our voices can be heard,” she said.
The meeting, which attracted a large number of women from the ward, also saw the participation of other government appointees. These included Ajibade Omolara, SSA to the Governor on Domestic Affairs; Yekini Jimoh, SSA on Political Matters; and Omeiza Yakubu, SSA on Security, who all joined in encouraging the women to register and be part of the electoral process.
Samuel also advised the women to sensitise others in their communities about the importance of getting registered before the deadline fixed by INEC. She stressed that women had a key role to play in building a better society.
