The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has announced an adjustment to the final date for the assessment of underage candidates who sat the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME.
JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, in a statement, said the shift was necessitated by the failure of 23 out of the 71 universities selected by the candidates to submit their agreed Post-UTME screening scores by the initial deadline of September 15, 2025.
According to the breakdown, 135 candidates are affected across the defaulting institutions, including the University of Lagos, 39, Nile University, 18, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, 15, University of Abuja, 12, University of Uyo, 9, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, 8, and several others with smaller numbers.
JAMB said it has notified the defaulting institutions by email and urged them to forward their screening scores “without further delay” to enable the Board conclude the assessment exercise.
The Board also reminded universities of the timelines agreed at the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions chaired by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Alausa, stating that Public universities are expected to upload recommended candidates on the Central Admissions Processing System, CAPS, by Tuesday, September 30, 2025, while private universities have until Friday, October 31, 2025.
JAMB stressed that the overall deadlines remain sacrosanct: October 30, 2025, for public universities, and November 31, 2025, for private universities.
The statement comes on the heels of the release of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination, SSCE, results by the National Examinations Council, NECO, on September 17, 2025, a key requirement for candidates’ admission processes.
