The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has promoted 471 junior staff in a merit-based exercise.
The commission announced that the promotion affects staff in Grades Level ,GL, 03 to 06.
In a statement on Thursday, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information & Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, said the promotions were approved on the recommendation of the Appointment, Promotion and Disciplinary Committee, APDC, and in line with the Staff Conditions of Service.
He added that the exercise was part of the commission’s routine effort to reward deserving staff and enhance their welfare.
According to INEC, a total of 515 staff were shortlisted, out of which 214 were promoted to GL07, 134 to GL06, 106 to GL05, and 17 to GL04. This marks the first phase of the ongoing promotion exercise, with senior staff promotions already underway.
Olumekun urged all staff to remain dedicated to their duties, especially as preparations continue for the forthcoming Anambra State Governorship election, FCT Area Council election, and the party primaries for Ekiti and Osun State Governorship elections.
