Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has announced the appointment of Prof Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie as its new substantive Vice-Chancellor, effective November 18th 2025.
Acting Director of Information and Public Relations at the university, Njelita Louis, in a statement on Sunday, said the Governing Council of the university approved Anyaehie’s appointment for a single tenure of five years.
Anyaehie, a renowned professor of Physiology and Clinical Measurements, will take over from Prof Carol Chinyelugo Arinze-Umobi, who has been in the saddle as Acting Vice-Chancellor of the university since May 19, 2025.
The appointment comes one year after the reversal of Prof. Bernard Odoh’s appointment by the President and Visitor to all federal universities, Bola Tinubu.
Recall that Odoh’s appointment was rescinded over concerns expressed by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, criticising the process as an irregular appointment.
