FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, has said the maiden Nigeria International Airshow further establishes Abuja’s growing role in Nigeria’s aerospace future, pointing to the city’s rising influence in aviation-related business, technology, and mobility development.
Mahmoud who made the assertion at the maiden edition of the Nigeria International Airshow held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, said the event opens wider prospects for logistics, hospitality, training academies, tourism, and technology sectors operating within the Federal Capital Territory.
She said Abuja’s position as the nation’s primary gateway makes it a natural centre for emerging aviation opportunities, adding that the capital is well placed to benefit from new investments, partnerships, and innovation the airshow attracts.
“The administration is therefore proud to host the inaugural global showcase at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, reinforcing infrastructure, policies, and strategic investments designed to support industries demanding safety, innovation, and reliability.”
Mahmoud added that the airshow signals Nigeria’s readiness to embrace the future of aviation, aerospace engineering, and modern mobility, describing the event as a defining moment for the country’s aviation ecosystem.
She commended the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and his team for the vision and dedication that delivered the landmark gathering of airlines, aerospace companies, drone technology firms, maintenance institutions, and sector specialists.
She further noted that the showcase aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s broader commitment to repositioning critical sectors for growth, jobs, and global competitiveness.
According to her, “The Airshow also creates a platform for young Nigerians to pursue careers in aerospace engineering, avionics, AI-powered mobility, and sustainable aviation fuels.”
Mahmoud urged delegates and exhibitors to explore, network, and innovate as Abuja positions itself at the centre of Nigeria’s aviation and aerospace advancement.
