A notorious criminal suspected to be one of the suppliers of ammunition to bandits in the Zamfara axis has been arrested in the Federal Capital Territory, the FCT Police Command has revealed.
The suspect, 32 years old Ahmed Abubakar, from Gusau, Zamfara State, was picked up from his residence in the Anguwan Dodo area of Gwagwalada Area Council, following credible intelligence gathered by the Tactical Team of the Police Command.
A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed that the suspect who was arrested at approximately 03:30PM on 7th December 2025, is undergoing thorough investigation that can lead to the arrest of other members of the syndicate.
According to the statement, “Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect was in contact with an associate, identified as Yusuf Mohammed, with the intention of procuring 1,000 rounds of ammunition to be supplied to bandits in Zamfara State. Further investigation revealed that he was sent by his uncle, one Ahmed Yakubu ‘M’, believed to be a key accomplice and currently at large, to purchase and transport the ammunition for criminal elements operating within their locality in Zamfara.
“The suspect is currently in police custody as further investigative efforts are underway to apprehend the aforementioned fleeing accomplice and dismantle the criminal network involved.”
While reassuring residents of its determination to rid the territory of crime and ensure their safety, the Command urged the public to continue supporting the Police by reporting suspicious activities through its emergency lines: 0803 200 3913, 0806 158 1938, and 0902 222 2352.
