CAC now receives nearly 10,000 business registration requests daily- Magaji

The Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, has disclosed that it now receives nearly 10,000 business registration requests daily, reflecting the rapid growth of formal business activities in Nigeria.
Registrar-General of the Commission, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, SAN, made the disclosure in Abuja on Monday during the opening ceremony of the CAC’s 35th anniversary celebration.
He also revealed that the Commission’s complaint management platforms, including emails and call centres, handle an average of 5,000 inquiries daily.
Magaji said the sharp increase in demand made the deployment of Artificial Intelligence, AI, inevitable to ensure speed, accuracy and efficiency in service delivery.
He noted that business registration volumes have grown significantly due to government reforms encouraging business formalisation, expansion of digital enterprises, and broader economic changes.
According to him, CAC has therefore entered into a collaboration with global technology firm Google to strengthen its technology infrastructure and improve service delivery.
“Only AI can effectively complement human capacity with the required speed, accuracy and precision. Our partnership with Google will further strengthen our systems, enhance portal performance and deepen the ease of doing business in Nigeria,” he said.
As part of activities marking the anniversary, Magaji also announced the approval of free business name registration for 3,500 small businesses nationwide as part of efforts to support micro and small enterprises.
He highlighted the Commission’s transformation from a single office operation in Abuja relying on manual processes to a fully digital platform accessible globally, enabling round-the-clock services.
Magaji admitted that the transition to an AI-driven portal in 2025 initially caused disruptions but noted that improvements have since stabilized operations, enabling some services, including name reservation and business name registration, to be completed within minutes.
He further disclosed that over four million businesses were registered between 2024 and 2025 alone, demonstrating the impact of ongoing reforms.
The Commission also unveiled its redesigned website featuring an AI-powered virtual legal assistant, known as the AI CAMA Lawyer, which provides instant guidance on CAC regulations and procedures.
A business name generator tool was also introduced to help entrepreneurs quickly create and reserve business names.
While delivering remarks at the event, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Ambassador Nura Abba Rimi, commended CAC’s contributions to Nigeria’s corporate environment.
Rimi stated that digital reforms in the Commission have simplified business registration and strengthened investor confidence in the country.
On his part, a member of the House of Representatives, Ahmed Munir, praised the Commission’s embrace of technology in the daily management of its affairs.
Munir pledged that the National Assembly would continue to support reforms aimed at expanding access to registration services, particularly for small and nano enterprises.
Also speaking, former Bauchi State Governor, Isa Yuguda, lauded CAC’s progress, describing it as one of Nigeria’s earliest government agencies to adopt digital operations, helping to improve Nigeria’s investment climate through faster and more reliable business registration processes.
