President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the postings of 31 career and 34 non-career ambassadors to various countries and the United Nations.
The ambassadors-designate were earlier confirmed by the Senate in December, according to a statement issued on Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The statement said the postings cover both career diplomats and non-career appointees who will serve as ambassadors and high commissioners in Nigeria’s diplomatic missions across the world.
Among the non-career ambassadors are Senator Grace Bent, who was posted to Lome, Togo; Senator Ita Enang to South Africa; Victor Ikpeazu to Spain; and Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu to Tel Aviv, Israel.
Others include Mahmud Yakubu to Qatar; Paul Oga Adikwu to the Vatican City; Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas to the Philippines; Reno Omokri to Mexico; and Abasi Braimah to Budapest, Hungary.
Also on the list are Angela Adebayo to Portugal; Olumilua Oluwayimika Ayotunwa to Tokyo, Japan; former Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to Athens, Greece; Chioma Priscilla Ohakim to Warsaw, Poland; and Aminu Dalhatu to the United Kingdom.
Former Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, was posted to Beijing, China, while Tasiu Musa Maigari was assigned to Gambia and Olufemi Pedro to Australia.
Other postings include Muhammed Ubandoma Aliyu to Argentina; Lateef Kayode Are to the United States; Joseph Sola Iji to Russia; Senator Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations; and Femi Fani-Kayode to Germany.
The list also includes former Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, who was posted to Ottawa, Canada; Fatima Florence Ajimobi to Austria; Lola Akande to Sweden; Ayo Oke to France; Yakubu N. Gambo to Saudi Arabia; and Senator Nora Ladi Daduut to Seoul, South Korea.
Others are Onueze Chukwujika Joe Okocha to Dublin, Kulu Haruna Abubakar to Tunis, Tunisia, and Jerry Samuel Manwe to Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
The career ambassadors were also posted to several countries, including Nwabiola Ezenwa Chukwumeka to Côte d’Ivoire; Besto Maimuna Ibrahim to Niamey, Niger; Monica Okwuchukwu Enebichi to Sao Tome and Principe; and Mohammed Mahmud Lele to Algiers, Algeria.
Others include Endoni Syndoph Paebi to Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso; Ahmed Mohammed Monguno to Cairo, Egypt; Jane Adams Michael to Kingston, Jamaica; and Alexandra Clark-Omeru to Lusaka, Zambia.
Additional postings include Geoffrey Lioma David to Bamako, Mali; Yvonne Ehinosen Odumah to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea; Segun Ige to Beirut, Lebanon; and Ruben Abimbola Samuel to Rome, Italy.
Further assignments include Ogechukwu Kingsley Onaga to Maputo, Mozambique; Magaji Umar to Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo; Muhammad Saidu Dahiru to New Delhi, India; Abdussalam Habu Zayyad to Dakar, Senegal; and Shehu Ilu Barde to Accra, Ghana.
The list also includes Aminu Nasir to Ethiopia; Abubakar Musa Musa to N’Djamena, Chad; Haidara Mohammed Idris to The Hague, Netherlands; Bako Adamu Umar to Rabat, Morocco; and Sulu Gambari Olatunji Ahmed to Malaysia.
Others are Romata Mohammed Omobolanle to Tanzania; Shaga John Shamah to Botswana; Hamza Mohammed Salau to Tehran, Iran; Ibrahim Danlami to Kenya; and Ibrahim Adeola Mopelola to Cotonou, Benin.
Also posted are Ayeni Adebayo Emmanuel to Brussels, Belgium; Wahab Adekola Akande to Berne, Switzerland; Esther Arewa to Windhoek, Namibia; Gergadi Joseph John to Libreville, Gabon; Luther Ogbomode Ayo-Kalata to Sierra Leone; Danladi Yakubu Nyaku to Khartoum, Sudan; and Bello Dogon-Daji Haliru to Bangkok, Thailand.
The Presidency also disclosed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already received agrément from the United Kingdom for the High Commissioner-designate, Aminu Dalhatu, while France has sent agrément for Ayo Oke.
It added that nominations of the other designated envoys had been communicated to the respective countries for approval in line with diplomatic procedures.
Tinubu also directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately commence the induction programme for the ambassadors-designate and high commissioners.
