ICPC denies arrest of Justice Omotosho

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has denied claims circulating on social media alleging that it arrested a judge of the Federal High Court, Abuja, Justice James Omotosho.
The commission made the clarification in a statement issued on Tuesday by its spokesperson, J. Okor Odey.
Odey described the claim in a viral video alleging the arrest and prosecution of the judge as false and malicious, saying it was intended to mislead members of the public.
She stated that the commission had neither arrested nor invited Omotosho in connection with any investigation.
“The commission wishes to clarify that it has neither arrested nor invited Justice James Omotosho in relation to any investigation,” she said.
According to her, the commission is also not investigating the judge as alleged in the video circulating online.
She urged members of the public to disregard the misleading content and refrain from spreading unverified information capable of causing unnecessary public concern and damaging reputations.
Odey added that the commission does not have the mandate to investigate serving judicial officers and holds the judiciary in high regard.
She reiterated the agency’s commitment to professionalism and due process in the discharge of its statutory mandate.
The spokesperson also advised the public to rely on official communication from the commission and verify the authenticity of information circulating on social media before sharing it.
