FCT police expand presence with new outposts in Lugbe

By Sarah NEGEDU

The FCT Police Command on Wednesday intensified its push to widen security coverage across Abuja with the commissioning of two newly constructed police outposts and the foundation-laying of another in Lugbe district.
The new outposts, located at the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ultra-Modern Shopping Complex in Lugbe and the National Judicial Institute along Airport Road, were donated by the host institutions to strengthen police visibility and deepen community-level security.
A statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, stated that the facilities were donated “to enhance police visibility and strengthen grassroots policing within their respective communities.”
Commissioner of Police, CP Miller Dantawaye, who commissioned the buildings and performed the ground-breaking for the proposed station at T-Pumpy Estate, Lugbe, said the Command valued the collaboration from the donors.
Part of the statement states, “The Commissioner of Police expressed profound appreciation to the donors for their support and partnership with the Nigeria Police Force in advancing community-based policing and improving security architecture within the FCT.”
The statement also assured residents of efficient deployment. “He assured the donors and residents that the facilities would be effectively utilized to bolster security, improve response time to emergencies, and enhance the overall safety of residents and visitors within the affected areas.”
Dantawaye charged officers posted to the formations to uphold strict professional standards. “CP Dantawaye further charged the officers deployed to the outposts to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and integrity in the discharge of their duties,” the statement added.
He emphasized the need for officers to remain “courteous, and responsive to the needs of the public while fostering strong relationships with members of the communities they serve.”
The Command urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity through its emergency numbers: 08032003913 and 08061581938.
